New Lenox Medical Supply Company Targeted By Fraudster Attempting To Cash $6K In Checks: PD

The incident was reported Dec. 23. The bank used by the business flagged the transaction as fraudulent.

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox medical supply company was reportedly hit by fraud two days before Christmas, according to New Lenox police reports.

Police were called Dec. 23 to Mars Medical Equipment and Supply, 333 W. Maple Street, in reference to a fraud complaint. The victim advised they had been contacted by a representative from Fifth Third Bank, who said a man had attempted to cash 14 checks drawn on the business for a total of $6,000.

The transaction was identified as fraudulent, and the bank canceled all the checks, according to police reports.
