Barricade Situation In New Lenox Township Ends Peacefully: Sheriff
Will County Sheriff's Police were at the scene at the home in unincorporated New Lenox for hours Monday.
NEW LENOX, IL — A barricade situation in unincorporated New Lenox Monday ended peacefully after hours of negotiation, the Will County Sheriff's Department said.
Police Monday were negotiating with a suicidal man barricaded inside a home in unincorporated New Lenox. Police were called around 9:30 a.m. to a home in the 2000 block of Calmer Drive, in unincorporated New Lenox, said Will County Sheriff Public Information Officer Kathy Hoffmeyer. Sheriff's police and SWAT officers were at the scene late into the afternoon.
The incident was resolved, and the individual was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for an evaluation.

New Lenox District 122's Cherry Hill School, located at 205 Kingston Dr., was put on soft lockdown in response to the police presence, district parents said.
"Today at 11:40 a.m., the District was notified of a disturbance at a home located near Cherry Hill School," district officials said in an alert to parents. "There is no direct threat to the school or students. Upon notification from the New Lenox Police Department, safety measures were put into place and parents impacted were notified. These measures will continue until the District receives verification the incident is resolved."
