Dangerous Cold: Where To Find Warming Centers In New Lenox

With severe cold in the area predicted this week, here is where New Lenox residents can go to stay warm.

NEW LENOX, IL — Mother Nature is throwing some seriously cold weather New Lenox's way to start the new year. Below is a list of where New Lenox residents can go should they need to stay warm.

  • New Lenox Public Library District, 120 Veterans Parkway. (815) 485-2605. Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Masks are required.
  • New Lenox Police Department, 200 Veterans Parkway. (815) 462-6100. Open by request only. Note that NLPD is closed Monday.

According to the latest weather predictions on AccuWeather, snow and hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Monday morning commute with a winter weather advisory in effect until noon. Total snow accumulations could be 2 to 3 inches. The high for Monday is predicted to be only 32 degrees with a low of 5. Tuesday's temps are expected to be even lower with a high of 15 and a low of minus 9. Wednesday's high is 13 with a low of 5. More snow is predicted for Thursday with a high of just 32 and a low of 8.
