Frankfort Biz Owner Readying New Lenox Spot 'Comise's' For Opening
Comise's Sports Bar and Grill will have pool tables, dartboards, video gambling, and plenty of TVs to catch a game.

NEW LENOX, IL — The owner of a Frankfort bar and restaurant is ready to put what he's learned there to use in a new space, as he tackles a complete makeover of a former microbrewery space in a New Lenox strip mall.
Mike Comise, who has owned Pete Mitchell's Bar and Grill for nearly a decade, soon plans to debut his own Comise's Sports Bar and Grill in the space formerly occupied by Hickory Creek Brewing, 1005 W. Laraway Rd. in New Lenox.
But first, he's overhauling the interior to make it his own. The space has been demoed, with plans including epoxied floors, a large bar that seats 60, pool tables, dartboards, video gambling—and the biggest draw, Comise said—more than a dozen 65-inch TVs. Seventeen of them, to be exact.

"It’ll be a lively atmosphere in there," Comise told Patch. "It’ll be the best place to go, to watch any kind of sports you want."
Comise, whose son is a firefighter/paramedic in New Lenox, said he decided on New Lenox in part because his son mentioned a lack of options in the area.

"There’s really nothing on that side of the town," Comise said, of why he picked the space.
With signage up on the storefront, chatter has started on social media, many wondering what's moving in to the spot previously occupied by Hickory Creek Brewing, which has relocated into space on Schoolhouse Road.
Comise's will be a sports bar, with live entertainment and karaoke, each once a week. A full menu will include breakfast, lunch and dinner options, with some entree items as inexpensive as $11, he said. Much of the menu will be similar to that of Pete Mitchell's, he said: wings, burgers, wraps, salads, and more. They'll also offer catering.
Hours will be Sunday through Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Thursday through Sunday, 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Comise hopes to open in April. An exact opening date has not yet been set.
"We completely remodeled it," Comise said, of what patrons can expect. "It’s a wide open venue now."
