IHOP is Coming to New Lenox

The New Lenox Town Center development, which is anchored by Walmart, is filling out with six new businesses in the outlots that front Route 30.

Mayor Tim Baldermann said the International House of Pancakes, IHOP, Restaurant is scheduled to be built on property being developed by McVickers Development. The 450,000 square feet square feet of retail space, New Lenox Town Center, was launched in 2009 with Walmart as the anchor. In November 2011 Aldi opened its doors on the west side of the property. Additional space is currently occupied by Culvers and White Castle restaurants, which face Route 30. Also Goodwill, Chase Bank and Discount Tires occupy parcels along Route 30.

Along with IHop, comes a Pizza Hut carry-out, Verizon Wireless, Jersey Mike's Subs, the Bedding Experts and Great Clips.  Baldermann said the existing Pizza Hut Restaurant, 338 W. Maple St., will be vacated as soon as the carry out facility opens later this year.

"We're excited to have them," he said. Businesses are attracted to New Lenox due to its access to major highways, including Interstate 355 and Interstate 80.  In general, the Lincoln-Way communities continue to draw attention for businesses.  

Plans for the Menards store, which also expressed interest in the New Lenox Town Center, have yet to materialize.
