NEW LENOX, IL — After two years of cancellations and modifications, residents in cities and counties across the country are looking forward to many of the traditional Independence Day activities that mark the summer holiday. July 4 is tomorrow, so there’s still time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

Independence Day Celebration
The Village of New Lenox is hosting fireworks July 4, along with live, music and food vendors. All events will take place at the Village Commons on Veterans Parkway in New Lenox. Admission to the event is free.

The band Whiskeyfist is scheduled to take the stage from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by the Joliet American Legion Band to lead into the fireworks display with patriotic tunes.Fireworks are scheduled to start at around 9:30 p.m.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale from the concession stand courtesy of the New Lenox Community Park District. Additionally, Smokin' Z BBQ and Tacos Maui will have their food trucks on site.
A portion of Veterans Parkway will be closed to traffic during this event. Parking is available in the lots of the New Lenox Public Library and Old Plank Trail Community Bank; however, the Village strongly encourage guests to use the free parking available at the Route 30 Metra station at 300 N. Church St. in New Lenox. A free shuttle will be provided to the Village Commons beginning at 5:45 p.m. Accessible parking is available in the New Lenox Police Department's administrative parking lot, located to the southeast of the New Lenox Police Department.
There is no smoking and no pets allowed for the event. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome and encouraged.
