The $2.2 million Laraway Road construction project that stretches from Route 52 in Joliet to Harlem Avenue in Frankfort is nearing completion.
Will County Dept. of Highways spokesperson Jeff Ronaldson said the resurfacing project is advancing as planned. It is scheduled for completion by the end of June, except for the installation of road reflectors.
The contractor has completed a substantial portion of the project, including paving some side roads and driveways in the 17-mile stretch. Will Nash, village engineer in New Lenox, said it will take about one week to complete the paving and another week to finish up with shoulder stone.
"Finally, they will be placing pavement markings. The project should be completed near the end of June," according to Nash.
In Frankfort, the project is moving ahead as planned. Rob Piscia, assistant village administrator, reminds residents to adhere to the 35 mph speed limit. Because there is little lighting along the road, he advices motorists to take extra care until construction is completed.
