Lincoln-Way Foundation Virtual Gala Scheduled For Saturday

The virtual event will be live-streamed from Lincoln-Way Central and features a silent auction and raffles.

NEW LENOX, IL — The Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Foundation for Educational Excellence is scheduled to host its annual gala Saturday, but things will be a little different this year. That's because this year's "Love of Lincoln-Way" gala will be a virtual event and will be live-streamed from Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox.

The event is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. During the event, virtual participants will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and win raffle prizes, according to a news release from the Foundation.

The Foundation's mission is to "creatively generate financial support with which to enrich and enhance the opportunities and educational experiences of Lincoln-Way High School District 210 students," according to the release.

Proceeds from the event benefit Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 students and teachers. One of the fundraising goals for this year is for a $30,000 CNC Plasma Machine, which would be used in the District's welding programs, 3D machining courses and engineering physics courses.

The Foundation provided $31,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors in 2021, according to information on the Foundation's website, and recently donated $61,500 to the District for classroom enhancements.

"The Foundation looks to continue to support 'trade programs' as we donated eight welding machines previously to this award winning program," said the Foundation's Executive Director, Bob Kennedy.

Those interested in bidding on items in the silent auction can preview the items on the Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Foundation for Educational Excellence website.

Winners will need to pick up items at Lincoln-Way Central Auditorium, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, or between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday. Winners will have to pay the full cost of shipping of any items.

"The process of gathering donations for the event generated over 100 items," Kennedy said. "Businesses and individuals have been extremely generous and we appreciate all the support, now more than ever."
