Local Brothers to Skate for the Chicago Blackhawks
Local brothers will be skating for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Two New Lenox brothers—Alex and Terry Broadhurst—will be skating this season for the Chicago Blackhawks. Alex, 20, announced on June 2 that he would sign a three-year contract.
A native of Orland Park who later moved to New Lenox, Alex leaves the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League to come home to Chicago, according to a Chicago Blackhawks report. There, he had 10 goals and 18 assists in 21 playoff games. Previously, as a 2010 member of the Green Bay Gamblers, he had 39 goals and 67 assists.

Alex spent time in AAA hockey with the Chicago Chill, based at the Arctic Ice Arena in Orland Park, and with the Chicago Mission based at Seven Bridges in Woodridge. Then, he took a chance and played with the Green Bay Gamblers, a junior league team. He has been playing hockey since the age of 3 and always dreamed of playing with the Blackhawks.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Terry Broadhurst has remained undrafted. This is his second prospects camp. For the past two seasons, he has played for the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Alex told the Chicago Blackhawks report, "It’s an honor to be drafted by Chicago and an honor for both of us to be here,” said younger brother Alex. “It’s our dream to play together.”
Alex graduated from a high school in Green Bay after spending his freshman year at Sandburg and the next two at Lincoln-Way Central. The older Broadhurst graduated from Providence Catholic High School and went onto to complete a communications degree the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
