Locally Crafted Glass Art Piece Honors Silver Cross Donors

Homer Glen glass artist Sheri Law created the piece that now adorns the main lobby of Silver Cross Hospital.

Silver Cross Hospital recently unveiled a major artistic addition to their main lobby. The panoramic scene of sweeping leaves skillfully crafted of custom cut glass was created by local artist Sheri Law of Sheri Law Art Glass Ltd. in Homer Glen. The hospital commissioned Law to make the piece in honor of their donors.

“Since the donor wall was going to be displayed in such a visible area of the hospital, we were particular on choosing an artist with rare skills who could uniquely capture our vision – and Sheri’s exceptional talents made her the perfect choice,” Larry Johnson, vice president of the foundation at Silver Cross Hospital said. “Her ability to incorporate components of nature and motion through windswept leaves using our corporate colors and edge lighting resulted in a remarkable piece of art and a wonderful tribute to our benefactors.”

This is the second time Law has created a piece of artwork for Silver Cross. Several years ago, she created the glasswork for the hospital’s chapel, which was preserved and transferred to the new location during the move in February of 2012.

“To be commissioned to create artwork that honors so many significant individuals, who through their help made this beautiful place of healing a reality, was truly an honor for me,” Law said.
