Lockport Man Brought Loaded Gun Into Silver Cross Hospital: NLPD

A 39-year-old Lockport man faces a gun charge after the incident Wednesday, New Lenox police said.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Lockport man faces a gun charge after bringing a loaded pistol into Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox police said.

Police were called to the hospital early Wednesday morning, for a report of a patient with a firearm. Police learned a patient, identified as John Walters, 39, was transported to Silver Cross Hospital by ambulance from Lockport, according to police reports. During intake, hospital staff learned Walters was in possession of a loaded pistol, which was concealed in his waistband.

Police said Walters did not have a valid CCL to carry a concealed firearm. Walters could not be interviewed at the time of the call due to his medical status. At approximately 2 p.m., Walters was released from the hospital and taken into custody. He was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

He was processed and transported the Will County Jail.
