LW West Student Commemorates Rose Parade With Stained Glass Art

Lincoln-Way West student Kylee Rinke created a stained glass Tournament of Roses seal for the district after the band marched in the parade.

NEW LENOX — Kylee Rinke many talents were on display when she presented a stained glass Rose Parade memento to District 210 officials Thursday night.

The Lincoln-Way West junior marched with the school's band in the Rose Parade on New Year's Day. She was honored to be part of the event, so she decided to preserve the memory -- forever, if she can help it -- in stained glass.

Rinke also is an artist, and she worked for more than 75 hours in her family's studio to create four stained glass of the official Tournament of Roses logo, with organizers' permission. Three were raffled to raise funds for the school's trip to California.
