The man, 39, blocked the snowplow driver in the street and demanded a ride to a gas station to buy cigarettes, New Lenox police said.
NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man was charged Saturday after police said he forced his way into a snowplow and demanded a ride to buy cigarettes at a gas station.
Police were called just before 7 a.m. to Cedar Road and Route 6, after a New Lenox Public Works driver reported the incident. The driver told police he had been plowing nearby when a man "stood in the street in front of the plow and refused to move."
The man—identified as Robert Lichamer, 39, of New Lenox—demanded a ride to a gas station to buy cigarettes, the driver told police.

The driver refused, and police said that Lichamer "climbed onto the snowplow and entered through the passenger door, again demanding a ride to the gas station," according to reports.
The driver then drove to a gas station at Route 6 and Cedar Road and called police. Lichamer was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass to vehicle. He was processed and released.

Later that day, records show police were called to the 1200 block of Towncrest Drive for a report of criminal damage to property. The victim told police that a man identified as Lichamer had broken a front window at the address, which matches Lichamer's address as provided by police. Lichamer was still on scene and was taken into custody. He was processed and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Jail records Monday did not show Lichamer as in custody.
