New Lenox Board Honors Silver Cross For 10 Years In Community
New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann made a proclamation at Monday's meeting honoring the partnership between the hospital and the Village.

NEW LENOX, IL — This month marks the 10-year anniversary of Silver Cross Hospital relocating to New Lenox, and the New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann celebrated the occasion with a public proclamation during Monday's New Lenox Village Board of Trustees meeting.
Silver Cross was founded in 1895 as a 33-bed hospital in Joliet, according to the proclamation. The hospital relocated to New Lenox on Feb. 26, 2012.
Since the relocation to New Lenox, Silver Cross has expanded to become a 129-acre campus, with expansions to its main facility multiple times, including:

- Constructing a $22 million heart expansion that offers open-heart surgery and a structural heart program.
- A 16-bed observation unit.
- A robotic surgery program.
- An outpatient endoscopy.
- An outpatient surgery center.
- Two urgent care centers.
- The building of Will County’s first neonatal intensive care unit, slated to open in the spring.
"Although you call New Lenox home, we know just how communities you serve, the residents you serve. We're proud to have a regional hospital of such high-magnitude quality out here, right here in the 'Home of Proud Americans,' New Lenox," Baldermann said.
Ruth Colby, Silver Cross Hospital CEO, and Scott Paddock, senior vice president of external affairs, were on hand to accept the proclamation from Baldermann.

"We are just delighted to be in New Lenox. We would not have been able to do what we've done over the past 10 years without your support," Colby said.
