New Lenox Fire District to Host Silent Parade
A parade to remember fallen firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty during 2011.

The is hosting the first annual silent parade at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. The silent parade honors firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty in the last year, which is why it is held annually.
All emergency vehicles from neighboring departments in this parade are expected to display their lights only; no sirens will be sounded.
Prior to the start of the parade there will be a brief ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Way West High School auditorium. All fire departments participating as well as the public are invited to attend.

Following the ceremony, the vehicles will be leaving Lincoln Way West heading East on Illinois Highway to Gear Drive and turn North taking that to the Village Commons. After making the loop, the parade is set to proceed East on Haven Avenue to Wildwood Drive and turn South. The parade will move back to Illinois Highway turning East until it reaches Cedar Road. On Cedar the parade will move North. The vehicles will make a left onto Haven Avenue to Prairie Street (To the stoplight) and continue over Route 30 to Station One.
All Proud Americans are encouraged to line the streets along the parade route with flashlights to help silently honor those that have fallen.
