New Lenox, Lockport Liquor Stores Burglarized Minutes Apart: NLPD
United Liquors in New Lenox was broken into around 2 a.m. Friday, New Lenox police said. Another in Lockport was broken into at 1:50 a.m.
NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox liquor store was burglarized minutes after another in Lockport early Friday morning, with the suspects fleeing on I-355, police said Friday afternoon.
New Lenox police were patrolling the area of Cedar Road and Illinois Highway Friday at 2:15 a.m., and received information that a liquor store in Lockport had been burglarized at approximately 1:50 a.m.
Police saw two suspicious vehicles near United Liquors, 148 W. Illinois Highway, and approached to investigate. The officer saw suspects run from the building to the vehicles, and flee the area at a high rate of speed. T

The front glass door to United Liquors was shattered, police said. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicles, but they continued northbound on I-355. The vehicle descriptions were broadcast to surrounding agencies via radio, police said.
Police believe the same suspects to be responsible for both burglaries. The type and value of stolen items was not known Friday afternoon.
