New Lenox Police Hiring Entry Level Officers

NEW LENOX, IL — The New Lenox Police Department is accepting applications for entry-level officers.

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to fill 1–3 openings and to establish a new eligibility register for future hiring needs, officials said.

Applications will be online for purchase until May 15 at 2 p.m. The deadline for returning completed applications is Wednesday, May 15 by 4 p.m. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee. Applications are not available at the police department or Village Hall.

Salaries start in the mid-$60,000s, with top salary at $109,000. Officers work 12-hour shifts.

Requirement include:

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen and/or an alien admitted for permanent residence and who can produce evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.
• Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application
• Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 21 and under 35 years old by the application deadline, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time police officer for a municipality in the United States.
• Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Residence: No residency requirement.
• Vision: Must possess normal peripheral vision and vision must be correctable to a minimum of 20/40.

Applicants must attend the mandatory orientation and testing date (including a physical ability test and written exam) on Saturday, June 1, at Lincoln-Way West High School, 21701 S. Gougar Rd. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., orientation at 8 a.m.
