New Lenox Police Record More Than 2,600 Calls For Service In July
The number of calls is down from July 2020, but calls for service overall still up from this time last year.
NEW LENOX, IL — The New Lenox Police Department responded to 2,602 calls for service in July, bringing the year-to-date total to 19,266. In July 2020, police responded to 2,726 calls, while total calls for service year-to-date was 17,162.
A call for service is any sort of activity police perform that is logged through dispatch.
So far this year, police have responded to (year-to-date in 2020 in parenthesis):

- 597 burglar alarms (697)
- 545 suspicious person/vehicle (871)
- 260 deception/forgery (149)
- 110 theft (151)
- 52 criminal damage/trespass (66)
- 44 drug offenses (31)
- 36 simple assault/battery (45)
Traffic citations are down to 778 for the year so far, compared with 962 citations issued at this time last year; however, traffic warnings increased to 3,944, compared with 2,299 this time last year.
