New Lenox Man, 18, Steals Car From Metra Lot, Nabbed 3 Days Later: PD

The man stole the car on a Monday, and was arrested on Thursday, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man was charged with motor vehicle theft and retail theft March 16, three days after police said he stole a car from a Metra lot.

Patrick D. Bryant III, 18, was reportedly seen on surveillance footage pulling on handles of car doors in the Metra lot, 300 Church Street, on March 13 around 12:30 p.m. Police said Bryant eventually reached the victim's car, which was unlocked and had a key fob inside the car. Bryant reportedly fled the area in the victim's vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered, unoccupied, following a car accident on I-57 near 107th street, police said.

Days later, Bryant was arrested at Walmart in New Lenox, and charged with retail theft and felony motor vehicle theft, according to police.
