No Injuries In New Lenox Garage Fire: Fire District

The fire happened in the 700 block of Amber Road Tuesday afternoon.

NEW LENOX, IL — An alert neighbor called 911 when a fire broke out at a home nearby Tuesday afternoon, New Lenox Fire District official said.

Firefighters were called just before 3 p.m. to a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Amber Road. First responders found smoke showing from the home, and a working fire on the side wall of the garage.

A neighbor was outside with their garden hose, trying to keep water on the fire until crews arrived, officials said.

The fire was under control in 10 minutes and extinguished within 25 minutes from the time of first arrival.

No residents were home at the time of the fire.

Multiple agencies were on the scene and at the New Lenox Fire Stations to cover any additional calls for service during that time.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
