Retail Theft, Driving While License Suspended: Police Reports

New Lenox police reports for Dec. 22 through Jan. 7.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest or charge is not an indication of guilt.


Dec. 27

  • Michelle L. Piersma, 32, of New Lenox, was charged with retail theft. According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in for a report of a retail theft. The officer met with the complainant and learned that Piersma had stolen items valued at approximately $204 from the store. Piersma was arrested and taken to NLPD. Piersma posted bond and was released.

  • Jean J. Hoffman, 57, of Frankfort, was charged with theft and retail theft. According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of a retail theft. The officer met with the complainant and learned that Hoffman, who was also an employee at Walmart, had stolen items valued at approximately $57 from the store. Hoffman left the store before officers arrived. Officers found Hoffman a short time later and found her to be in possession of a price code printer belonging to Walmart, valued at approximately $1500. Hoffman did not have permission to take the printer off of Walmart property. Hoffman was arrested and taken to NLPD. Hoffman was then transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Dec. 30

  • Jamaria A. Washington, 25, Joliet, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer was on patrol and witnessed a vehicle in traffic with an equipment violation. The officer pulled Washington over and learned she had a suspended driver’s license. Washington was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Washington posted bond and was released.

  • Jonathan M. Hynes, 39, of New Lenox, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer was on patrol and witnessed a vehicle commit a moving violation. The officer pulled Hynes over and learned he had a suspended driver’s license. Hynes was arrested and transported to the NLPD. Hynes posted bond and was released.

Jan. 3

  • Debra A. Sendra-Johnson, 65, of Monee, was charged with retail theft. According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in for a report of a retail theft. The officer met with the complainant and learned that Sendra-Johnson had stolen items valued at approximately $116 from the store. Sendra-Johnson was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Sendra-Johnson posted bond and was released.

Jan. 4

  • Maria R. Dooley, 36, of Manhattan, was charged with retail theft. According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of a retail theft. The officer met with the complainant and learned that Dooley had stolen items valued at approximately $132 from the store. Dooley was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Dooley posted bond and was released.

Jan. 6

  • Jamie Ortiz, 36, of Joliet, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer was on patrol and dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Cooper Street for a report of a vehicle accident. When the officer arrived, it was discovered that Ortiz had a suspended driver’s license. Ortiz was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Ortiz posted bond and was released.
