Two eastbound lanes will be closed just west of Oak Drive.

Beginning on Monday August 31st, the contractor will begin work in the RT 30 pavement near Aurelio's. This work will necessitate the closure of the two eastbound lanes of RT 30 just west of Oak Drive. The contractor will be installing temporary pavement markings as well as traffic barrels and signage in the area. Between Cedar Road and Vine Street traffic will be tapered to one lane in each direction in the area. This work is anticipated to take approximately 6 weeks.

The contractor has begun installation a new water main between Nelson Road and Church Street. The southern eastbound lane of RT 30 may be closed for installation of the new water main.

The contractor is installing the new water main between Vine Street and Cedar Road. As the contractor installs the water main in this area, property owners will have restricted access to their driveways during the time the contractor is installing the new water main. This work will be completed as soon as possible and stone placed in the trench to provide access. All driveways will have access by the end of the day.

Construction of the Rt. 30 water main replacement and upgrade extending from Church Street to Nelson Road were financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes replacing main valves, hydrants, and service valves. Also included is the replacement and upsizing of the existing 40+ year old 8 inch water main to 12 inch. Once complete, it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in New Lenox by increasing the flow capacity and reducing the number of supply issues due to water main breaks. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
