1 Dead After Two-Car Crash In New Lenox Sunday: Police

One person has died after the crash Sunday night in New Lenox, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL — One person has died following a two-car crash on Rte. 30 in New Lenox Sunday night, police said.

The crash occurred near Rte. 30 and Cooper Road around 8 p.m., New Lenox Police Chief Louis Alessandrini said. Additional details on the crash were not clear as of 9:30 p.m. Both drivers were taken to Silver Cross Hospital, where one later died.

A team consisting of officers from several local departments is investigating, Alessandrini said. As of 9:30 p.m., Rte. 30 westbound traffic is blocked in the area of Williams Street while police investigate, New Lenox Emergency Services advised.
