Tire-Slashings In New Lenox Lead To Joliet Man's Arrest
Two juvenile boys were also charged with property damage and mob action, police said.
NEW LENOX, IL — An 18-year-old from Joliet and two juveniles are behind a rash of tire-slashings in New Lenox, police said Wednesday.
Police said they received multiple reports on Monday from residents who said their car tires had been slashed overnight, and that the crimes likely happened between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Evidence from Ring home security cameras showed that the vandals were driving two vehicles: a white pick-up truck and a silver sedan, police said.

Security cam footage and Flock license plate readers allowed investigators to trace the pick-up truck to 18-year-old Shane E. Schomig Jr., of Joliet. Schomig was arrested Tuesday at his Joliet home on Bartel Road, according to police.
He is charged with felony property damage and misdemeanor mob action. He was booked into the Will County jail pending a hearing set for Wednesday afternoon.
