Water Main Break on S. Cedar Road Leaves Homes Without Water for 12 hours
A water main break on S. Cedar Road near Michigan Street shut off water to residents in the area for the bulk of Thursday.

A water main break about 3 a.m. on S. Cedar Road near Michigan Street caused residents for three blocks south to lose water.
New Lenox Public Works Superintendent Ken Brozovich said he got a call about 3 a.m. that a water main had broken. "We had to wait" for utility companies to arrive before the the public works department could start digging up the area to repair the break.
In the meantime, traffic was brought down to one lane while crews worked on the problem, he added.

The water was shut down for the bulk of the day. It was turned back on about 3 p.m., said Brozovich.
