Aurora Man Arrested For New Lenox Attempted Bank Robbery: Police

New Lenox police have identified the man they said is responsible for the Nov. 9 attempted robbery of a BMO Harris Bank, 110 W. Maple St., in New Lenox, according to the New Lenox Police Department.

An arrest warrant for Abdulhafedh Abdulhafedh, 21, of Aurora, was issued Friday, according to New Lenox Police Deputy Chief Micah Nuesse. Abdulhafedh is charged with financial institution robbery, a Class 1 felony, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 2 felony, according to police. Bond was set at $250,000.

Banned Book 'Maus' To Be Donated To 19th Ward Schools

Copies of the most banned book in 2022 are being donated to public and private schools in the 19th Ward to combat the growing tide of antisemitism in Chicago and across the country. The campaign is being initiated by Jews of Beverly (a Facebook group for Jewish neighbors), Bookie'sbookstore, and 19th Ward Mutual Aid, which are accepting donations to buy copies of "Maus" after the book was banned by a school board in Tennessee.

Stolen Vehicle Sparks Car Chase Across South Suburbs: Police

Three people are in custody after south suburban police from seven agencies pursued a stolen vehicle Monday night, according to police.

Midlothian police said officers pulled over a car which was reported stolen from Midlothian Plaza Monday evening at around 6 p.m. While attempting to get the passengers out of the car, police said the vehicle took off.

Mailbox Thieves Interrupted, Drive Off In Stolen Jeep

Palos Park police officers called off a chase of a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee where three people inside were earlier spotted trying to pry open USPS mailboxes early Monday morning.

Just after 1 a.m., an officer on patrol near the Palos Park post office at 121st Street and 80th Avenue interrupted two suspects as they were trying to pry open several drop boxes on the north side of the building. Both had on ski masks and appeared to be smaller males, possibly teens.

Brawl At Urban Air In Mokena, Security Guard Punched: Police

Mokena police charged an 17-year-old male, of Merrillville, Indiana, with disorderly conduct Sunday following a brawl at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, 19800 S. LaGrange Road in Mokena, according to Mokena Police Interim Chief Brian Benton.

Special Ed Teacher Inducted Posthumously In McAuley Hall of Honor

An Orland Park woman and special education teacher is being inducted posthumously into the Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School's hall of honor. Alumnae, friends and supporters of the school are invited to attend the ceremony and brunch on the school's Chicago campus at 3737 W. 99th St.

'Get Behind The Vest' Pancake Breakfast Sets Fundraising Record

Ald. Matt O'Shea's eighth annual Get Behind the Vest Pancake Breakfast raised over $25,000 in two hours Sunday morning. For a second year, the breakfast was carryout due to the city's pandemic mandates, which were lifted Feb. 28.

1 Dead, 2 Injured In Park Forest Crash; Cops Say Alcohol Involved

A Park Forest man is dead and two other south suburban residents are injured after a car crash early Sunday morning, police told Patch.

According to officials, police were called to a car crash in the 400 block of Wildwood Drive at around 1 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, officers found 22-year-old Vincent Adami ejected from the passenger seat of the vehicle. Paramedics said Adami died on the scene shortly after they attempted to revive him.

1 Minor Injured In Flossmoor Shooting, Other Kids Involved: FPD

One person under 18 years old was injured in a shooting late Saturday night, police told Patch.

According to Flossmoor police, officers were called to Parker Junior High School on Saturday at around 9:15 p.m. Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said a nearby resident was the one who called 9-1-1.

When officers arrived, Kamleiter said they found one person with a gunshot wound along with at least two other minors. The person was taken to a local hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
