Two women gave police different accounts of a traffic dispute June 3 at Golf Road and Greenwood Avenue at about 6:45 p.m.
The woman police are calling the offender, age 33, said she changed lanes and that the victim, age 24, who was behind her in traffic, made a rude hand gesture with her middle finger and started yelling at her, according to the police report. The victim then made a throat clearing sound and spit at the offender's car. That upset the offender, because her children were sitting near where the spit landed  and the window was partly open. In retaliation, the offender threw small pieces of jewelry at the victim's car, according to the report.Â
Both drivers pulled into a mall parking lot, and a police officer observed what might have been spit on the offender's car.Â

The victim said the offender had driven across three lanes of traffic and almost struck her vehicle. She said the offender threw something at her car, which caused scratch marks. However, the officer said the scratch was not consistent with the trajectory of an object thrown from a moving vehicle. Police told both parties they would document the incident with a report.Â
