Apartment Building Fire Displaces 4 Families: Niles PD
Police are working with the American Red Cross to find temporary housing for the families following the early Wednesday morning blaze.

NILES, IL — An early Wednesday morning apartment building fire displaced four families. According to the Niles Police Department, the building in the 8200 block of Dempster Street is unhabitable. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing by fire officials.
Police are working with the American Red Cross to find temporary housing and support for the families. Village officials and emergency personnel were also on scene to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
Police responded to multiple reports of a structure fire at 2:36 a.m. at the apartment building. Upon arrival, they found a second-floor apartment was fully engulfed in flames. Officers made entry to the building and safely evacuated the residents. No injuries were reported.

Niles firefighters, with the assistance of multiple mutual aid departments, extinguished the blaze.
