Here are some highlights of Monday and the coming week.

Monday, Sept. 16 is National Guacamole Day. Dine out with guac and a margarita, or make this delicious version at home.
Constitution Week begins Tuesday, Sept. 17. Daughters of the American Revolution representatives from local chapters appeared before both the Niles and Morton Grove village boards recently to commemorate the occasion.
Enjoy reading? How about a beer on tap? Combine them at the Morton Grove Library holds a book discussion of "Kindred" by Octavia Butler at the Curragh Irish Pub in Skokie Tuesday at 7 p.m.
A Veterans Job Fair takes place Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lake Zurich.
The Back-to-School Dance sponsored by the Niles Teen Center is Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Niles Family Fitness Center.
Harvest Fest is being held Saturday. Sept. 21 at the Morton Grove Farmers Market. Revel in the joy of a good harvest. 8 a.m. to noon.
When Native Americans lived in this area, they navigated by using marker trees. One such tree came down, but the Morton Grove Historical Society saved the wood. On Saturday from noon to 3 p.m., an artist will begin carving it into a statue. Come watch the progress.
