Lehigh Ave. Could See Closure Due to Water Main Work

Work on water main relocation should be completed by early-December.

Lehigh Avenue in Morton Grove could be closed due to a water main being relocated, as reported by the Morton Grove Champion.

Morton Grove Board of Trustees approved a $346,966 contract with Deerfield-based Bolder Contractors to complete the work. The company will relocate a nearly 60-year-old, 20-inch feeder main from the north water tower near Dempster Street and National Avenue.

Currently the water main is sandwiched in between two homes due to development in the area, making access difficult, said Public Works Director Andy DeMonte, according to the Champion.

Bolder will also replace a piece of 12-inch water main, which is located near Church Street and Lehigh Avenue under the Metra tracks.ย
