Maine East High School Sets "The Secret in the Wings" Performances Sept. 29 - Oct. 1
A creative look at fairy tales with this dark mystery.

Maine East High School will stage the fairy tale, “The Secret in the Wings,” this weekend. The fall performances will be held at Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster, Park Ridge on 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 4 p.m. matinee on Friday, Sept. 30, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students.
The show, created by award-winning Chicago playwright and director Mary Zimmerman, uses a series of fairy tales to advance the plot as a young girl, Heidi, faces an unnerving evening with a babysitter, who happens to be an ogre, Journal & Topics reports.
"The Secret in the Wings" is a dark mystery that uses fairy tales to tell the plot of a child and the frightening babysitter with whom her parents leave her.

“It’s a play that will make you ask questions. It also really explores relationships and the fact that love ultimately can triumph. The crew has had a blast making a scary, dingy basement, and the cast has had a blast collaborating on the story telling," said East director Karen Hall in the story.
