Andrew Karpinski, 25, of Niles was charged May 23 with delivery of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and DUI.
Police on patrol just before 3:30 a.m. noticed that the vehicle was parked and running in the 8300 block of Oriole, and had rear-ended the vehicle in front of it, according to the report. The officer saw Karpinski asleep in the driver’s seat, and tried to wake him. When he woke, he was disoriented, police said, and spoke nonsensically. The officer observed an odor of alcohol on his breath, police said, and when asked if he had been drinking, Karpinski replied he had had “three jack and cokes.” He showed impairment on field sobriety tests, police said. After taking him into custody, a routine search of his vehicle yielded a bag of suspect cannabis and a glass pipe with residue inside, according to the report. His court date is July 3 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
Gun found after tenant evicted
After a tenant was evicted from a residence in the 8900 block of Washington Street on May 29, an agent for Fannie May/Field Street Properties contacted police to say that in the course of his work, he was sent to clean out the property, and found a revolver in a drawer. Police tried to contact the former tenant, but did not succeed, and inventoried the gun for safekeeping.
