Man Charged With DUI Said He Drank 2 Pints Of Vodka, Police Say

An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Julius Hope, 29, of South Evergreen Street, Chicago, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him at Main and Oriole Streets Aug. 19 just before 5 a.m.

Police observed him partially enter an intersection on a red light, brake and then reverse, according to the report. They next saw him make a left turn in a way that almost caused a collision with another car. Police said he then didn't stop completely at a stop sign and almost hit a parked car on Main Street.

When police stopped Hope, they noticed the odor of alcohol on his breath, and he said he had drunk two pints of vodka earlier that night, according to the report.
