Man Charged With Striking Wife, Who Suffered Fracture, Police Said

The victim drove herself to the hospital, where her wrist was put into a cast. Arrests are merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Dominic J. Catalano, 35, was charged with aggravated domestic battery after a nurse at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital phoned police after treating his 27-year-old wife for pain on April 21.

The nurse relayed to police that the wife had said her husband, Catalano, had pushed her on her right side and she fell on her left wrist. This followed an argument between the husband and wife, who had been married for less than one year and have five-month-old twins, according to the report. Catalano had taken the wife's son from a previous relationship, and others, to a store, and one of them reported he was hitting on a worker at the store. That provoked an argument over previously-alleged infidelity, and the wife said that after Catalano pushed her and she fell and complained of pain, he said, "Quit faking it, you're not hurt" according to the report.

The woman drove herself to the emergency room, where an x-ray revealed a hairline fracture, and she was put into a cast. She later came to the Niles Police Department to report, and an assistant state's attorney said she would interview the parties involved. She then approved the felony charge.

Catalano's court date was pending at the time of the report.
