Morton Grove Pizza Hailed On Chicagoist's '20 Best' List

Chicagoist.com's staff has named the 20 Best Pizza Places in the Chicago area, and Burt's Pizza is on the list--though the pizzeria has not been open lately because the owner has had medical issues.

The Chicago location of Pequod's Pizza, which has a Morton Grove location, is also on the list.

A sign has been on the door of Burt's Pizza for a few weeks, saying the restaurant is closed for medical reasons. Owner Burt Katz was hospitalized, according to the Morton Grove Champion, but said he intends to reopen. A phone call to Burt's Place Wednesday evening went to voice mail.

Katz has been perfecting his pizza for more than 40 years, and has gotten acclaim from the Chicago Tribune, WGN-TV, Saveur Magazine and others.
