Morton Grove Police Officers No Longer Required to Supply Their Own Guns
The village board will begin buying weapon-mounted flashlights, extra magazines, handguns, and holsters for officers.

Morton Grove police officers are no longer required to supply their own guns and ammunition, the department said.
The Morton Grove Village Board voted unanimously Sept. 26 to begin buying weapon-mounted flashlights, extra magazines, handguns, and holsters for officers, according to the Chicago Tribune.
"For purposes of consistency, the (Police) Department desires to purchase and issue weapons to officers that are of the same caliber and manufacturer, which would mean only one type of ammunition will be used," said Village Manager Ralph Czerwinski in the story.
