Neukirch Fills Upcoming Vacancy at Niles Park District

Scot Neukirch will serve as the Niles Park District's new finance director next month. The current park Director Joe LoVerde is set to retire Tuesday, Sept. 6. and park district Finance Director Tom Elenz will take over as director and Neukirch will step in as finance director, according to Journal & Topics.

Neukirch’s last day with the village was Thursday, Aug. 11. His first day with the park district will be Monday, Aug. 29. Elenz said the week between Aug. 29 and Sept. 6 will allow everyone to transition smoothly into their new roles. LoVerde will stay on temporarily as a consultant for two large construction projects.
Elenz said he and LoVerde interviewed 20 candidates for the position. Elenz and Neukirch worked together in the Niles Finance Department before. At the park district, Neukirch will oversee a $12.8 million spending budget. At the village, the 2017 budget adopted in May neared $104 million.
