The hotel's opening date is pushed back to December.

A new 100-room hotel at Milwaukee Avenue and Waukegan Road pushed its opening date back to December.

The Niles Holiday Inn Express & Suites is still under construction due to an issue with furniture not meeting hotel specifications, according to Journal & Topics.

The hotel recently hired 50 employees and the original opening date was set for Oct. 11.

Journal & Topics reports:

Village officials said they were told last week the opening date was set for Oct. 11. Vincent Ziga, regional sales and marketing director for the Lakhani Hospitality Group, which owns and operates the hotel as a franchise, said that October date was pushed back to December.
Guidelines for hotel specifications, including what size and type of furniture is to be used in the hotel, is set by Holiday Inn’s corporate parent company InterContinental Hotel Group. Ziga said the specified furniture, including desktops and bathroom fixtures, did not fit the rooms. New furniture is on backorder. Once that arrives, completing the project should proceed quickly, Ziga said.
Lakhani operates other hotels and businesses, including another Holiday Inn in Skokie and Ramada Plaza in Prospect Heights that opened last month. Ziga said workers hired for the Niles hotel were given positions in other hotels until the Niles hotel opens.
