- The high school football season begins in earnest tonight as Niles West takes on Ridgewood High School in a home game. 7 p.m.
- Football season starts Saturday at 9 a.m. for Niles North High School. The boys' soccer team plays in a Barrington tournament, and there are also golf and girls' tennis events.
- Maine South football and boys' soccer also get started Friday, but both teams have away games.
- Maine East girls soccer has an away game today; boys football begins Saturday against Schurz at home, 9 a.m.
- The Morton Grove Farmers Market celebrates Gluten-Free Day Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. People on a gluten-free diet can find sweets and baked goods, as well as veggies, meats and cheeses, they can eat.
