Picks for Pets: Oscar

Written by Katie Bertoglio-Harris

Oscar was transferred to Chicago Canine Rescue from a rescue in Oklahoma.  The long bus ride took its toll on Oscar.  When he arrived, he was extremely shy and subdued and he didn't show well.  CCR took him anyway, and he was worth the risk!

Oscar is around a year old.  He is an Australian Cattle Dog/mix.  As we interacted with Oscar at his intake exam, he gradually relaxed and made it clear that he loves to snuggle!  He would act shy, but when I turned my head, he would "sneak" over to me to sit on my feet!  Needless to say, he won us over quickly!

Australian Cattle Dogs are active, intelligent, brave dogs.  They do best when they have a job to do and they do well with an active lifestyle.  Oscar will probably do best with a family that is able to allow him some calm time to settle in, though.  He has been through a lot, and we don't want him to be overwhelmed.  And he will need plenty of cuddle time!

Oscar is currently at Chicago Canine Rescue.  He is vaccinated, heartworm checked, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered.  If you are interested in Oscar or any of his buddies at CCR, visit http://www.chicagocaninerescue.org/ for more information on adoption.  They are also looking for foster homes, so if you are not ready for a long term commitment, but you have room in your heart or home, fostering is another option.
