Police: $12,000 Worth Of Tools Stolen From Vehicle

Also, someone caused $2,400 in damage, possibly using fireworks, to playgrounds. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

A Niles man reported his GMC van was burglarized while parked in a parking lot in the 8600 block of Dempster (at Greenwood) between July 2 and 3. He went inside the store to shop, and when he came out, noticed the lock cover on his passenger side service door had been moved, according to the report. That door was not locked, and the vehicle's alarm system was not armed, he said. Three tools with an estimated value of $12,000 had been taken; he was not immediately able to provide serial numbers, police said. The victim was unsure if the burglary had taken place at that store or several others he had gone to before he noticed the lock cover out of place. Store personnel said they would review video and notify police if they found anything related to a burglary of the vehicle.

On July 4, a slide at a park in the 9100 block of Cumberland was damaged by unknown means, causing a large hole. Damage was estimated at $600.
