River Road Construction To Be Completed By Sept. 30

The Des Plaines River Road construction with all four lanes of River Road between Algonquin Road and Touhy Avenue to be complete by Sept. 30.

But don’t get too comfortable. Next year, reconstruction of the next phase of River Road will begin promising to bring with it major traffic delays over about a year and a half period.

New traffic lights at Oakton Street and Algonquin Road will be turned on today (Wednesday), said Assistant City Engineer Jon Duddles. Temporary lights have been in place since work began on the $14 million project in March 2015. The work that remains to be completed are minor projects such as landscaping of parkways and finishing some curbs.
