7th Grader ‘Leads With Compassion’: Northbrook Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Northbrook.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Sally Stendardo who nominated Aidan, a Northbrook seventh-grader. Stendardo is Aidan's aunt.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
With great honor, I nominate, my 13-year-old nephew, Aidan. Aidan attends St. Norbert School. He is currently in 7th grade. He is an amazing big brother to his two adoring sisters. Aidan has consistently demonstrated exceptional academic achievement. From the beginning, Aidan has been a straight A student, with only one exception when he received a B, just missing an A by a point. Aidan illustrates exemplary personal and social qualities, proving himself to be a leader amongst his peers. Aidan's impressive academic achievements are a direct result of his love of learning, and engagement with his peers and teachers. In addition to his academic excellence, Aidan is hardworking, courteous, responsible, disciplined, always punctual, and has a great attendance record. In addition to his academic achievements, this year, Aidan was selected to be the Captain of his Bantam 2 Travel Hockey Team with the Northbrook Bluehawks. He has been playing ice hockey for 7 years. He also plays Travel Baseball for the GBN Feeder 13U Black Team. While all of Aidan’s academic and athletic achievements are noteworthy; I’d like to tell you a little about who Aidan is as a person.
Aidan is a kind person, who also leads with compassion. He is the first to grab his sister's hand in a parking lot. Aidan is genuine and approachable. He is charming, witty and funny, but never at the expense of others. He is fiercely competitive, but not a sore loser. Whenever faced with adversity or a challenge, he always manages to keep going. He never quits. Even when it’s hard, he never quits. Even when things don’t go the way he wanted or expected, he never quits. Aidan never quits on himself, his teammates, his classmates, and he never quits on others. Aidan is always the first to volunteer, whether it’s at school or in any one of his sports.
Simply put, Aidan is an Illinois Star Student, and a very commendable young man.
