Man Arrested for DUI, Driving Too Slow on Waukegan

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.
DUI
Officers stopped Scott J. Schiff, 40, of the 1500 block of Hinman in Evanston, for a traffic violation on Waukegan Road and Three Lakes at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15. After speaking to him, officers determined he was under the influence and placed him under arrest. He was charged with DUI and driving below the speed limit, released on $1,000 bond and given a Nov. 6 court date.

Driving with a suspended license
Officers stopped Jacob R. Hauad, 30, of the 8200 block of West Lawrence Ave. in Norridge, for a traffic violation in the 1700 block of Shermer at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 16. The officer learned that his driver’s license was suspended. He was charged with driving with a suspended license, expired registration and no insurance, released on $2,000 bond and given an Oct. 29 court date.

Driving with a suspended license
Officers pulled over Octavio Barrera, 20, of the 2500 block of Kennedy Drive in North Chicago, in the 1100 block of Shermer Road at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12. While the was looking for his insurance card, officers saw a glass smoking pipe. When asked if any cannabis was in the vehicle, Barrera handed him a cigarillo that had been emptied and filled with cannabis. A passenger also turned over a cigarillo that had been filled with cannabis as well as small plastic baggie containing cannabis.
Barrera was charged with driving with a suspended license, and released on $1,500 bond with an Oct. 29 court date. Both he and the passenger were also issued local citations for cannabis possession.
