Prescription Pills Stolen from Truck in Northbrook

A home on Peachtree lane was also burglarized.

Pill theft

Someone stole about 30 hydrocodone pills from a prescription bottle that was in a truck left unlocked in the 400 block of Academy Drive Oct. 9.

Theft

A victim reported that items were missing from his hoodie jacket pocket. The last place he knew he had possession of the items was at the gas station in the 1900 block of Willow Road Oct. 10. He reported losing a black wallet containing $50, his Illinois driver’s license and identification card, a Chase debit card and credit cards.

iPhones stolen

Two iPhones that were on display at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road were discovered missing Oct. 11. Officers and an employee reviewed store video and observed two male subjects enter the business and approach the display counter. One attempted to remove the display phone but failed. The second also attempted to remove the phones but failed. The first offender then made a second attempt and was able to remove both phones. Total loss is $1,400.

Wallet theft

Someone stole a wallet while its owner was shopping Oct. 11. The wallet was in a bag that the owner placed on top of her stroller after she removed her child from the stroller. Soon after the theft, the offender tried to purchase merchandise using the victim’s credit cards at nearby stores.

Residential burglary

A resident in the 2200 block of Peachtree Lane reported that she left her home at 11:30 a.m. and returned four hours later to find the door to her sunroom open and her house disturbed. Officers observed pry marks on the door and most of the rooms in the house had been disturbed. The victim believes that jewelry was missing as well as silverware and a jewelry box.

GPS units stolen

Someone entered two unlocked vehicles that were parked in a driveway in the 900 block of Western Avenue and took the GPS units worth $650 overnight Oct. 12.

iPhone theft

A store employee in the 300 block of Skokie Highway reported an iPhone worth $400 that was used for the business was removed from a backroom in the store. The manager said an employee encountered a person in the backroom earlier in the day who said he was lost.

Handbag theft

Store employees in the 100 block of Skokie Highway reported that a male offender entered the store and grabbed a number of handbags valued between $350-$400 each and fled the store Oct. 13. He was last seen entering a maroon vehicle that left the parking lot onto Skokie Hwy. The store will try and determine how many handbags were stolen.

Identity theft

Akeena M. Willis, 29, of the 0-100 block of Mayfield Ave. in Chicago, was arrested Oct. 14 for attempting to buy gift cards using fraudulent credit cards in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road in July. Officers investigating the incident used store security video and a description of the vehicle used she used that was furnished by witnesses to identify Willis. Officers located her at a home in Chicago and arrested her. She was held in custody pending a bond hearing.

Attempted burglary to a vehicle

The victim said he purchased several iPhones from the Apple store and put them in his vehicle’s trunk. He then returned to the mall for additional shopping. Later, upon returning to his vehicle, he observed the driver’s side front window was broken. The merchandise that had been placed into his truck was left undisturbed.
