NORTHBROOK, IL — At least seven protests are planned for the Chicagoland area Saturday, including one in Northbrook, as part of the national "Tesla Takedown" movement. According to ActionNetwork.org, where organizers are posting about the protest, registration is not necessary, "just show up."

The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of the Tesla dealership at 1200 Skokie Blvd. in Northbrook. Similar protests are being organized at Tesla dealerships in Chicago, Westmont, Schaumburg, Libertyville, Lisle and Orland Park.

"Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement," the posting reads. "We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly."

Organizers are also asking participants not to display Nazi symbols such as swastikas or SS runes on their signs, calling it "entirely unnecessary," and stating, "We'll call Elon Musk a Nazi with words."

Musk, CEO of Tesla, has been drawing the ire of many Americans since joining President Donald Trump's administration in January.

The Global Day of Action will include protests at Tesla dealerships across the United States. Organizers are asking citizens to sell their Teslas and dump any Tesla stocks they may own.

According to the post, parking will be available in nearby lots at the Northbrook event.

"If you are parking near the Josselyn Center, please park as far from that building's entrance as possible," the post reads. "There will be flyers you can help distribute. Bring your own creative signs to carry. "

There have been a number of vandalism acts across the United States in recent weeks, including one in Buffalo Grove. Earlier this month, a new Tesla dealership there was vandalized by a Buffalo Grove woman, Erin L. White, 26, who was charged with felony criminal damage to property and criminal trespass (misdemeanor).

Last week, Trump suggested sending anti-Tesla protestors to a notorious prison in El Salvador if convicted, as reported by Axios.
