Daycare Company Plans First Midwest Location in Northcenter
Children's Lighthouse Learning Center hopes to be open in the neighborhood by the fall of 2014.

A new daycare in Northcenter will be the pilot test for a company that has more than 35 locations across the nation.
Children's Lighthouse Learning Center, based out of Texas, provides daycare and private kindergarten for children. With locations littered on the coasts and in the south, Chicago will be the first in the Midwest. Each facility has security-controlled building access and internet video monitoring for parents.
In Northcenter, owner Scott Waltenburg is looking at three different possibilities in the neighborhood. He submitted a re-zoning form for 2600 W. Irving Park Road but Ward 47 Ald. Ameya Pawar's zoning committee has yet to review the project.

Once a location is settled, Waltenburg hopes to begin construction right away for enrollment in the fall of 2014. The daycare will serve ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Along with a private kindergarten, Children's Lighthouse plans an after school enrichment program with local elementary schools.
"We're excited to come into the neighborhood," Waltenburg said. "I've been scouting it for the last year and it looks like there's a need for it."

The owner has a background in childcare, currently working at the children's birthday party company, Pump It Up.
Three other Children's Lighthouse daycares are marked as "coming soon," for the company, all located in Texas.
