Demolition Planned for Dilapidated Building on Western (PHOTOS)
The run-down building will soon be knocked down, creating a prime piece of real estate in North Center.
The Western Avenue business corridor is about to take a small step toward beautification as a major eyesore is slated for demolition.
The 2,000-square-foot former Laundromat at 4234 N. Western Ave. is about to be leveled, according to a City of Chicago building permit outlining the demolition. The permit was issued on March 25.
Sitting on border between North Center and Lincoln Square, the almost 9,000-square-foot lot was sold in a short sale after a foreclosure, Redfin reports. It sits on 83 feet along Western Avenue and is zoned to be a mixed-use development, meaning stores with condos or apartments on top.
