Demolition Planned to Make Way for New Business (PHOTOS)
The former auto shop on Irving Park Road will be destroyed, and a new business is planning to construct a new storefront.
The former Albright Automotive repair shop in North Center will soon be demolished to make way for a new medical office, Ald. Ameya Pawar’s (47th) office confirmed Wednesday.
Lincoln Square’s Chicago Vein Institute will soon build a more than 5,600-square-foot at the site at 2333 W. Irving Park Road. A building permit, approved on April 8, estimates the demolition and build will cost roughly $250,000.
But not all of the former auto shop is being demolished. The vacant portion with the glass storefront will stay, and Chicago Vein Institute’s new location will be constructed along N. Claremont Ave., designs show.

It’s described in the permit as a “selective demolition.”
New landscaping, fencing and 5,000-square-foot parking lot will accompany the medical center. The lot will house 15 spaces on the south end of the building, with a new driveway off Claremont, Pawar’s office said.

Chicago Vein Institute is a Phlebology practice, meaning the doctors there specialize in vein issues.
“We specialize in modern alternatives to traditional, invasive treatments of venous diseases, including varicose veins, spider veins, and reticular veins,” the company’s website reads.
Business owner Mensur Sunje could not immediately be reached for comment about the new venture in North Center.
News of the demolition comes after a 2,000-square-foot former Laundromat at 4234 N. Western Ave. is also slated to be leveled, according to a City of Chicago building permit. The permit was issued on March 25.
Sitting on border between North Center and Lincoln Square, the almost 9,000-square-foot lot was sold in a short sale after a foreclosure, Redfin reports. It sits on 83 feet along Western Avenue and is zoned to be a mixed-use development, meaning stores with condos or apartments on top.
