‘Greyish, Pinkish’ Slime Found Dripping at North Center Restaurant
Restaurant inspections are brand new, this time with a top-10 restaurant in Northcenter under the microscope.

Patch examined inspection reports in North Center. Information has been compiled using publicly available data published to the website of the Chicago Department of Public Health's Food Protection Program.
Restaurants and businesses can pass, pass with conditions or fail using a standardized procedure. Establishments that pass don't have any critical or serious violations. Those that receive 'pass with conditions' had serious violations, but the violations were corrected during the inspection. Failed establishments had serious violations that weren't correctable during the inspection. A fail rating does not mean the business's license is automatically suspended.
All inspections are done on a routine canvass, unless otherwise noted.

Hanami
- 3925 N. Lincoln Ave.
- Pass with Conditions
Health inspectors hit up sushi restaurant Hanami and didn’t like what they found. First they “noted greyish, pinkish slimy substance on the inner lining of ice machine dripping onto the ice.” A serious citation was issued. That’s combined with another serious citation for not having a certified food manager while prepping “hazardous foods” like chicken and steak. Other comments were made about food debris and clutter potentially attracting rodents.

Delicious Café
- 3827 N. Lincoln Ave.
- Pass
A few things caught inspectors’ eyes upon their visit to Delicious Café. First, employees need to clean the inside of their coolers. Second, a working thermometer needs to be placed in the reach-in cooler. And third, some of their pre-packaged food was not labeled properly with a list of a ingredients.
Namo Restaurant
- 3900 Lincoln Ave.
- Pass
Inspectors asked employees to “detail clean” both the “grease encrusted” light shields in the kitchen and the interior of coolers and freezers. In addition, they need to replace a broken ceiling tile in the kitchen and store wipe-down cloths in a sanitizing solution between uses.
Yin Dee Restaurant
- 1824 W. Addison
- Pass
Owners at Yin Dee were asked to replace a missing thermometer in the milk cooler, store wiping cloths in a sanitizing solution between uses and detail clean all the shelving at the sushi-prepping area.
Sola Restaurant
- 3868 N. Lincoln Ave.
- Pass
Sola—which recently was listed as one of North Center’s best restaurants—passed its health inspection, but per usual, the owners needed to make some changes. Inspectors asked them to detail clean the fans inside the display cooler, as well as “remove dirt” at the tables in the kitchen area. That’s combined with a request to clean the floors and remove the clutter from the basement to avoid attracting rodents.
